The Daughters of the American Revolution has awarded Jasmine Jones, Class of 2019, the DAR Good Citizen of Mary Clap Wooster Chapter for the current year, having demonstrated the qualities of Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism. Congratulations Jasmine!

Those were just eight of the 22 names that rang out over the corner of Elm and Church Streets Tuesday night, as over 100 gathered for a Transgender Day of Remembrance rally, vigil, and march at New Haven’s Superior Courthouse. Thanks to all the volunteers who reported results from all the voting places Tuesday night the students from two New Haven high schools, Metropolitan Business Academy and High School in the Community, who helped the Independent tally up the votes from each polling place.
