State Champions!

February 24, 2020

MBA students can tryout and compete on teams at their neighborhood or town high schools. Many of our student athletes attend school at MBA and leave at dismissal for practices, games and meets.

Congratulations to the MBA students competing alongside their Hillhouse and Wilbur Cross peers!

State Open Girls 300 Meter Dash Champion: Nyia White (Wilbur Cross)

Wilbur Cross’ Nyia White was tired during the 300 meters, but she took the lead in the last 50 meters and won in 40.60. Right behind for second was Samantha Forrest of Glastonbury in 40.71 and Michelle Schweitzer of Barlow was third in 40.93. “I was getting tired during the race, but I was so close I dug deep for a strong late kick,” White said. “I was close to the leaders and knew I had to do something. I used my arms and every ounce of energy I could find to push ahead and win.”

State Open Boys 4x200 Meter Relay Champion: Jeremiah Williams (Wilbur Cross)

4×200 Meter Relay: 1. Wilbur Cross (Devin Cue, Armon Hyslop, Jeremiah Williams, Caleb Owen), 1:32.18

Class L Boys Track and Field Champion: Justin Mills (Hillhouse)

4×400 relay: 1. 1 Hillhouse (Talib McBride, Justin Mills, Gary Moore Jr., Ralphael Hawkins) 3:29.73
